PAXON HIGH SCHOOL opened it's doors in 1954/55 as a JR/SR high school offering 8th through 12th grade classes. It is located at 3239 Norman Thagard Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32254-1766.

The class of 1959, which started as eighth graders, were the only students to attend Paxon in the original building for five years. The school is now known as Paxon School for Advanced Studies. Paxon is currently ranked the third best high school in the nation by Newsweek magazine (2003)!

A new building was constructed across the street (about 1958) to house the JR High School. This school is now known as  Paxon Middle School.
